Why I love Homemade Natural Products!
Here is a list of all natural ingredients I use on a daily basis in some sort of form:
Olive Oil
Castor Oil
Peach Kernel Oil
Cherry Kernel Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil
Mango Butter
Kern Palm Oil
Avocado Oil
Apple Cider Vinegar
Honey
Coconut Oil
Vitamin E
Sunflower Oil
Essential Oils
I rarely use a product individually. They are usually mixed together to create a few products that I use daily or weekly.. :) |
There is downside to this. I have to admit it gets quite annoying. I was going to leave this part out, but I think I wish someone would have told me. Okay. Here it is: Once you start making your own beauty products you have to succumb to reading the ingredients on almost everything you don't make. It's like there's a permanent little person sitting on your shoulder, judging everything that's in your Target basket. He whispers in your ear, "Are you sure you want to buy that? Do you know what's in that???" You cringe because you know he's right. Because you know you can make it. With no chemicals. With ingredients you probably already have. You can make it with a glass bowl, a pot, and a blender. You can make it with a spoon! And then, you put it back. This happens to me more often than not. There are still a lot of things I do not make; toothpaste, body wash, perfume and deodorant being 4 of them. I am not Crunchy Betty (who by the way has an awesome blog, and truly really does make EVERYTHING). I do however make all of my hair products (except a hair mud wash--which I will be experimenting with soon), face products (except makeup) and body moisture products. I am going to be sharing them on my blog with all of you, and I am so excited! I am also going to be making new things I have never made before. That shall be quite the adventure!
With that said, here come the disclaimers. I encourage you to make your own recipes and always, always, ALWAYS test patch areas of your skin before fully applying anything you make yourself. Also, be aware of what you are allergic to. That helps. Furthermore, I am not a licensed cosmetologist. I guarantee that these ingredients work for me, but I do not guarantee that they will work for you. Do your own research. :)
