Have you ever been obsessed with something? I mean really obsessed. Obsessed to the point where nothing and no one could stop you? To the point where you would go anywhere and do anything to get it!!!!??? TO THE POINT WHERE YOU WOULD DIE TO HAVE IT!???? I have—well except for that last part, I wouldn’t die for this actually. What was this crazy obsession you ask? Was it a celebrity? No. Was it pogs or beanie babies? No. Was it food? No. Although, I did (okay, okay do…) have a slight obsession (bordering addiction) to bread and sunflower seeds, but I will save that for another post, and another time. The obsession was a TV show. A TV show from the era of 1990s when sitcom TV was actually worth watching, and had depth. I know I must be driving you crazy by now, but not telling you what I was addicted to and just talking about what I was addicted to is actually kind of fun. Muhahahaha. Okay, okay I’ll stop. “A Different World” the spin-off from the Cosby’s was my obsession, My Strange Addiction. I have to attribute the start of my obsession to my sister. She introduced me to the show, and she too will admit that she is slightly obsessed. I mean this show taught me about life, values, right and wrong, love, heartache, fashion, morals, standing up for what you believe in, and the most important of all that judging people is wrong even if you know them—true story. Don’t get me wrong, I have read The Bible, and I have the most wonderful parents in the world, and they taught me everything as well, but these characters were real to me and they represented real situations. I truly thought that Whitley, Kim, Ron and Freddy were my best friends and DeWayne Wayne was my boyfriend for years… I still think they are slightly in the back of my mind…(sorry to my real boyfriend and real best friends!) I have seen every single episode at least 5-10 times, and my absolute favorite episodes at least 30 times (thanks to Youtube!). No joke. It may even be more…I’ve lost count over the years.
Why am I telling you about this? Well this show is the reason I am who I am today. It’s also the reason for the name of this blog. Relax, Relate and Release. To be honest, I can’t think of three words more fitting for every life situation. Seriously, think of a problem you have, think of something that is bothering you. Think about it, and how much it makes you sick! And, then RELAX. Just relax. Nothing last forever and this too shall pass. Now, RELATE. Are you the cause of the problem, wait are you the problem? Really think about why you have this problem. Now, RELEASE it. Give it up to God. Have no more worries because you know it will work itself out. And, Ta-da! Problem solved! Alright, it might not be that easy, but the principles of this motto stand firm. And, they are what get me through the tough parts of life.
Because it really is A Different World out there, and you have to be prepared for whatever, and whoever comes your way.

I have included my all-time favorite episode of A Different World for your pleasure. I have also included the episode where the motto “Relax, Relate, Release!” comes from.
Disclaimer: Please watch with caution as you may find yourself clicking your way to YouTube to find the rest of the seasons and episodes. Do not do this at work. I repeat, do not do this at work!

Relax, Relate, Release Episode: Twelve Steps of Christmas Part 1-2 of 2
Well anyway, welcome to my blog “Relax, Relate, Release” ! On this blog, I will be writing about life and how I Relax, Relate and Release through it. This will include homemade beauty products/recipes, cooking recipes ( I cook almost never, so these will be a real treat!), funny stories, outfits of the day, and real estate. You will also follow me through a wave of short lived obsessions that I will then quickly and I mean quickly forget about it. It’s fun for now. I don’t know…This blog may be one of those waves, we shall see. Very few of my waves of obsessions actually stick. I am hoping this blog can pull through!
